It was in France that she forged a personal style, straddling Italian and French culture, and then wrote her opera Ercole amante in 1707, based on the libretto once used by her master Francesco Cavalli. Its Italian libretto is by Francesco Buti, based on Sophocles ' The Trachiniae and on the ninth book of Ovid 's Metamorphoses.
